Feeding Opinions

Hi...Im new where. My girlfriend has had her res for 5 years now.....got him when he was a baby....and i got mine almost a year ago when he was a baby. We feed them once a day...reptomin pellets....and some reptomin shrimp as a treat. Ive read on numerous sites to feed them live feed and meat and veges. We are hesitant to do this because both of our turtles are very healthy and we dont wanna mess up a good pattern we have going on. Any opinions would be appriciated, form what ive read here all of you know what your talking about. Thanks alot.
