Excellent. My turt was fixated on mealworms for almost 2 months before he got sick of it. I put in a romaine lettuce left and I know he ate that as well so I felt better.
In the long run, a too high protein diet is not the best but what can do you if that's all he eats, right? See how it goes for the next few weeks and see if he'll go back to pellets later like mine did. A co-worker said her turt did the same thing.
I figure a mealworm is like a tasty hotdog or hamburger. The pellet is like a well balanced veggie burger. What would you like every meal?
:After 3 weeks of not eating properly, I finally offered Sebastien a mealworm today. He ate it quite enthusiastically. And when i gave him a pellet, he looked at me blankly and swam away. I reckon he's fixated on mealworms as he wont eat anything else.
:So HOW do you get a turtle to eat? You cant really ask him nicely to eat his veggies ( believe me, I've tried). Ive already tried taking out mealworms in his diet for three weeks, but the little tyke wont eat anything else I offer him, including gourmet frozen turtle food from the pet store. I dont really want to starve him. Whats so good about mealworms anyway? Maybe I should try one and find out...
