:I just got my first Res yesterday.he is a little under 4" probably about 3.5. I was wondering if they get used to there owners, now it kinda swims away when i come to feed it and whenever i get near the tank.should i ever pull it out to kinda enjoy its company or would it not like that and prefer to be left in the tank to swim.i am getting a bit wordy so i will end my fist post now.

:Thank you for any and all replies.

Well, welcome to the forum! People here sure know their turtles!!!:) I got my turtle as a hatchling, and he did the same thing...swimming away from me like crazy when I went near him. Now I hand feed him, and he'll follow and try to bite my finger even when food is right in front of his face! It's actually quite cute how he associates my hand with food. So, yes, your new friend will get used to you, just give him some time!
As far as taking him out...I know some people say to leave him in his tank, I myself like to take him out every so often for a few minutes, just so he gets used to being handled. I guess it's your call then!
