Sexing a yearling

Is it possible to determine the sex of a turtle at less than a year old? I was looking at Austin's and the pictures of the differences in males and females. My turtle is about 10 months old, and seems to have a long tail as shown to be a male on this website. Is it too early to really tell, or was I correct in calling him a "him" for all these months! :)
