yeah normal. a healthy red ear will eat plants, insects, meat, fish, worms and almost anything els eit can find all day until it can't find any more. this is probably one of the reasons they are sp adaptable...they eat everything. If you keep them warm all winter they may not even slow down their eating at all, unlike say a box turtle which usually slows regardless of temps. because of this voracious eating you must be careful not to let them become obese and start being more concerned about water quality as they tear up their and and foul the water easily.
