My submerigable heater has been in the tank since I've had my turtles.. but now that their adults (6+ years) I noticed the bigger male starting to nibble on the coord.

I don't see him do this often.. when I feed them and if food gets near the coord, they only get the food... but when their just messing around he sometimes bites and hangs onto the coord. They give up pretty quick but I'm afraid if he gets even bigger that one hite could cut right through the plastic guard... hm I wonder what I could do, any suggestions?

PS: If the coord gets cut or exposed, it will eletrocute the water right? And most likely harm/kill the turtles? Or is there some kind of safety thing that will stop it maybe after a little jolt?
