If your RES is over one year of age, the main diet in the wild would be aquatic plants. RES that get too much meat in captivity tend to grow too fast, produce excess waste, and become deformed. Once or twice a week you can feed live foods. Choose from among a variety, and use something different each feeding. Snails, slugs, earthworms, millipedes, crickets, pillbugs, mayflies, mealworms, shrimp, guppies, or even turtle food pellets, or bits of cooked chicken or turkey. Aquatic plants or other leafy greens should be privided at all times, along with a cuttlebone.
