My turtles bask for quite a long time. Hours wihtout moving sometimes. But, I do notice that oftentimes my female would get into the water for a split second only to return to bask again. So, your turtle may be doing this and you just aren't see it. Its normal though just make sure the lamp isn't too close to your turtle.

:about how long do they bask at a time? i mean i know that they dont have a schedule or anything, but they seam to bask for hours at a time...... i know this is probably normal, i just wanted to make sure so i know that they arent sick and weak..... thanks in advance, kevin
