Turtle Stacks...!!??

I have several RES's and have noticed over the years a funny occurance. Seems to me the smaller the RES the higher up on the stacks they get. I keep trying to get a pic of this but never seem to catch it. My biggest on the bottom, ending with the smallest on top. Funny part to me is that they all have ample room to bask in their habitat. But always climb on each other..Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have a rational reason they do this?
