Common in the Ahaetulla genus are encysted pentastomes that can be found anywhere in the body cavity or just under the skin. Unlike mites they would be actually under the skin, rather than between the scales. They can be removed under local anesthesia. These are noty a worm but another parasite, looking much like a microscopic beetle.
