Hi, Ter. I agree with the situla being very nice. I think it's hard to beat a nice Mandarin for Old World, though.
I like your pick of the "Intermontana" corn, too, and I do have a pair, haha. They are a very neat snake. It's hard to pick an American rat. I've liked many corns, the bairdi are very nice, you know I like the greens, and there's others depending on who's doing the choosing.
I'd say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I pick many of my snakes because I like the species, the way they behave, etc. I think all of my ratsnakes are beautiful, even though others may not. Later, TC.
:situla (leopard) rat snake for Old World;
:emoryi intermontana (great plains) rat snake for North America.
:Wouldn't you know, I don't have either in my collection. I love the head pattern and look of the situlas. The intermontana can vary in color quite a bit, but some of the populations in their range are gorgeous looking snakes. I haven't picked either of these snakes up for my collection yet. I'll be patient and get the ones I have to have. The ones I would like have a pretty good list for them right now. Who knows, anything can come up. hehe.
