:I just discovered who Conant was last week. What a champion. I go to one of my school's libraries about 4 times a week and as of recent I have read Reptiles of Ohio by him. He did some great work but I didn't know he also did Peterson Field Guides. Learn something new everyday.
Kick ass Andy!! Keep it up man. Admittedly there is so much going on right now that it is hard to keep up with it all, but it is still well worth the time and effort to uncover the works of those who came before us. Remember, that it many cases these old timers did not even have access to field guides as they were the ones writing them. There was no internet, transportation was slower, and specimens in collections were fewer and far between. Time and access to their works have allowed others to "pick up the ball" and flesh out range maps, make new discoveries, etc, but when placed into historical perspective the accomplishments of a number of these old timers are phenomenal!!
