Blue racers to 6 feet have been found - but not by me!. I do think that they average larger than the other subspecies. I have found them to just over 5 feet and all with "adult" coloration appear to be pretty uniform - no obvious fading with age or size.

: From your experince, do the racers get lighter with size and age or is there a lot of individual variation? What is the avg. size for racers in your area? The avg. size for racers in FL and NC (where I've herped extensively) is 3.5 to 4 feet and a very occasional 5 footer. I wonder if more northerly racers are bigger.
