Can someone tell me if black & blue racers are the same?

If they are different snkes do their ranges overlap? I live in southern MI & we call them blue racers I have noticed that In the south they are black racers, I have cought racers that were almost black and some that had a very stunning blue tint. I am hoping to catch that one monster racer that wll break the 6'mark so far I am at 5'9", we lost one that would have easly done it. In my area it is tuff for a snake to get large because of habitat loss and hueman misconseptions.
