Most speckled racers in the pet trade are wild caught. They are a lot like garter snakes feeding on fish, frogs, and rodents. I can't tell you that after getting chewed on 2,001 times that the snake may actually calm down. As far as feeding a pet snake...rat pups do not have fur and could be used to feed many types of snakes. Good Luck
