I posted over in the beginner's snake forum that I'm looking for a snake that can be kept healthy on fish or earthworms. This is due to severe allergy and asthma problmes of my wife and kids which negates even using frozen rodents.

A local dealer has what I think is a subadult (12-14") Speckled (labelled Jeweled) Racer for sale. It matches the pictures posted here in the forum. Reportedly it's feeding fine on goldfish. For those of you with adult Speckled Racers are fish still a big part of their diet?

This pretty snake was a bit jumpy do they settle down with proper handling and age? I have a uromastyx lizard and box turtle that my kids love to handle. I'm sure they'll eventually want to do the same with our snake.

Thanks!

-ChuckK
