Racers don't eat a whole lot of rodents in the wild. They mainly prey on smaller items like lizards, frogs, and even small snakes. They stick to smaller items that they can easily just grab and swallow, without much in the way of constriction. If they were to grab a large prey animal and it puts up a fight, they would use a loop of their body to press the prey to the ground until it stops struggling.
