: I've been looking for Coluber Hippocrepis for quite some time now. Does anyone out there breed them? Does anyone know where I might obtain a pair?
Back in the early-mid 80's I remember several making their way over to the US, but ever since I have not seen even one.
I dont believe they are protected by cites rulings. They may be locally protected in from export in European countries.
I would try Glades Herp, Strictly Reptiles, or Ben Siegel. Between those 3 dealers/breeders you can get just about any unusual animal you could imagine. I would try to special order them.
According to Klaus Greihl (spelling?) they dont make very good captives, so I would think that captive bred ones are non existent.
I have some literature pertaining to Old world Coluber in some old herp journals, if I find them I will share any info I come across.
