We have a black racer that frequents our yard, a bit to my horror. Anyway, we saw her (?) yesterday, and she looked really strange. She had about 9 lumps, all in a row, along her body. What seemed strange is that either her tail was cut off, or these lumps went all the way to the very end of her body. Her body also seemed shorter than last year. I was just looking for information about their egg laying, do the eggs mature inside to a fairly large size before the snake lays them? Another unusual thing is that the snake coiled up and challenged our dog instead of beating a path away as fast as usual. What do you all think? Thanks for the info,
Jodi
