:::Did you mean this one? This may be the largest racer we have found. Later in the year ? actually in late September ? we found another of that size at the same spot. It did the same thing - head to that rose bush for safety. So maybe it was the same snake. They sure are beautiful.

::thanks eddie! you probably did see the same snake on different occassions. they seem to hang around certain areas, almost like a home range. in other news, my unicolor cribo started laying eggs about an hour ago. i mention this because drymarchon was formerly classified coluber back in the day and i think cribos and indigos ARE really just great big racers w/ good dispositions. any other thoughts on the matter? thanks again eddie! that is a hell of a shot!!
:Can't comment on the taxonomy - just don't know enough about that. But your description of indigos as big racers with good dispostions makes me want to get one! By the way, what's a unicolor cribo? Given that indigos are diural, I would think they would make a good display animal in a large naturalistic terrrarium. Have you ever tried that?
a unicolor cribo is a gold indigo they are the color of beer. they are 'clear tailed' as compared to black tailed cribos. they are from central america and the males get quite large but are gentle giants. drop me a line eddie at dannio04@webtv.net and i'll shoot you some pics of the adults and last years babies and some holdbacks. i don't know how to get pics up here, sorry.
