Is this hatchling a painted? If so what kind?

I want to find out what this little guy is so I can take proper care of him. My son saved him from some kids at school that were torturing the poor little guy. He was found in Henry County,KY
Right now he's in a 10 gallon with a heat light (basking around 85~90 degrees) two inches of water with half land half water.and a UV light.
Any info would be greatly appriciated!
