Since several people asked me for more info .. here are the words direct from the RI volunteer

The name of the paper is the Valley breeze, it is a local paper for North
Smithfield and Woonsocket RI. It is also a free paper. Their address is
1985 Mendon Road, suite 4 Cumberland, RI 02864, ph# 401-334-9555, fax:
401-334-9994, The issue in question is issue 4, number 31 10/14/99.

The vet, Dr. Linda Hanson, writes a column weekly entitled Pet Notes. She is
employed at the Diamond Hill Animal Clinic 35 pine swamp road, Rte 114. Phone
# 401-678-0751.

There is not a web site to view the paper on, and about 27,000 copies are
distributed each Tuesday to local businesses, at no charge.

I just got off the phone with the clinic she works at and I left a message
for her to call me back. The person I spoke with said that she should call
me later this evening.

Please ask that if people write the paper, or call the clinic, etc.. to be
very tactfull and courteous, not that they wouldn't be. It's just that I
always first try to see if people are willing to work with me, this may be an
excellent opportunity to get this paper to do an article on NIAD, or to find
a vet that is willing to learn more. I know I myself can get explosively
upset with things also, but you know what they say, you catch more flies with
honey. Anyway, thanks for all your help. I'll update you tonight or
tomorrow about the vet if she calls me back.

: I was contacted by one of my volunteers in Rhode Island
: about an article in the local paper. Unfortunately,
: in a weekly column by Dr. Linda L. Hanson entitled
: Feeding Your Pet Iguana, everything we have been
: working for was shot down. See below :

: "Iguana's are hardy creatures and relatively easy
: to care for, they make great pets."
:
: "They should eat a varied diet consisting of 70%
: vegetables such as dark green lettuce, broccoli,
: spinach, squash, and carrots; 15%fruits such as bananas
: and pears; and 15% canned dog food"

: These lines appeared in the 10/14-10/21 issue and the
: e-mail to send your response to is valbreeze@aol.com
: This is really important ... if you do nothing else
: today make sure you voice your opinion on this issue.
