So I was watching Animal Planet today. On a show called "Pet Line" there was a woman showing off new pet products. One of them was those frozen Veggie Burgers. In all of about 30 seconds however-many thousands of people today were told that iguanas are omnivorous and they need meat as well as veggies.
Behold, the power of television.
This was a re-run too, so this is at least the second time the country was told that. I swear between that and Dr. Bernie Pukay's misinformation on iguana care, I am beginning to not like this station anymore.
What do you figure are the chances that NIAD could contact them and change some minds? Maybe we could get them to retract this stuff or at least do something to get out the more current information. I'd like to see one of their talk show type shows, like Petsburgh, run an interview with leading iguana people like James Hatfield, Melissa Kaplan, Jen Swofford, and Kevin Eagan. Or even just some kind of segment on NIAD, maybe.
Argiope? What do you think?
