quick aquarium cycling

i think i'm gonna get one of those box filters tomorrow at the pet store. my established tank has a waterfall type filter. i lost 2 snails due to that. (one climbed up into the mechanism, not a pretty sight, the other one climbed out of the tank and i found him on the floor).

i'm planning on having the top screened, so they won't escape! don't want to lose any more animals!
