The 10 gallon is best as no plastic tank should be used as a permanent habitat! You will need a cover on the tank so they dont climb out....newts can easily climb the sides of the glass and squeeze through small gaps! Land and water areas are needed. A filter is strongly advised! Live foods are very important as these are the natural food source and are needed for nutrients. The frozen bloodworms are great as well for variety....toss the pellets..they are nothing more than a money grab...newts wont eat them yuck!
