:I have a male and female tiger salamander, housed together in a 20g long tank. Usually they burrow together under the substrate, but this morning I found them cuddling atop the surface. it has gotten a bit warmer the past few days, more sunshine, could be why. but i was wondering if anyone ever bred tigs, or if it is a highly unlikely event. If you have ever successfully bred them, what methods did you use?

I've not bred them, probably because of the difficulty of it all in my opinion. I'd check a couple of places: Try Caudata.org, go to Caudate Central, then Species Data Base and look at the Amby section. Also go to the Discussion Forum section and scroll down to the same name. There are a few people out there that say that they've successfully bred Tigers so I wouldn't get too discouraged. Some even talk that as long as you have eggs to begin with, then the odds of breeding get better. Gets kind of complex, but there's something about the water, what's in it, etc. etc. that the Tiger needs to have the same way in which it was hatched to keep his cycle going; so they migrate each season to the same vernal pools which they originated from. Maybe some can explain this better than I can. Hey, hope you can indeed be among those that can do this! I wish you the best of luck!!
