That place looks incredible. People sometimes get excitied about the SW, AZ, South CA and such. I'm not taking anything away from that area, but after 5 years living there, I wouldn't trade a single day in the SE for a week of herping the SW. Its just so lifeless in the SW unless you get up in the sky islands of SE AZ. I've lived in NM and southern AZ and I have to say, its one of the most boring places on earth to herp. You can hike all day in good habitat and during good weather and see nothing. The SE is full of life, the SW is a biological desert through 90% of it. With a few nice exceptions.
My wife is applying for jobs at U. of NC and U of SC as well as FL Atlantic U. - If we get interviews, I'm heading for the canals. Thanks man.
