If you want to learn the hardway, great, go for it.

Also, about your experience, I am sure its valid for someone who has had, little or no, success with breeding monitors. I call information good if it produces a fair number of eggs, then hatch a decent percentage of them. I would think hatching a percentage of between 50% and 100% of eggs layed would be called good. So the methods used would be useful. We are past calling eggs or a few hatchlings successful.

As a group, someday, when we have better husbandry, we should be able to knock that 50% up a bit. Then more as we learn. Do you understand that concept.

As far as Dums climbing, all monitors climb, including what is considered the most ground dwelling. Maybe you should look into the reasons they climb.

I do wish you guys all the luck and I really know little about dums. I think I mentioned that. Good Luck F

p.s. In the past you always said, reproduction was not a sign of success, now you seem to be leaning on it to support your husbandry.
