First, the nobody knows comment is sort of silly. You may not know, but there is a huge body if knowledge out there.

Now about what your missing. To think dirt is good for all species is also silly. Each species is evolved to basic habitats and each habitat has different soils or burrowing materials. Your job as a keeper is to look at what type of habitat a species comes from, then from there experiment to see what works best for that type of monitor.

Its not all that difficult, but you do have to do a tiny bit of research of your own.

The real problem is store bought materials, as they are mostly manifactured and have sharpe edges or splinters, from that process. F
