when to go out searching for milks?more!!

hey i live in rochester new york,,,i know its early yet but spring is on its way here,,,when it warms up a bit when should i be looking for eastern milks and where? at night? morning? day? also what would be the best habitat? i found one 5 years back in my garage,,it was a hatchling aprox 10 inches long,,it was dead,,,so there should be adults in teh area somewhere right?
