As far as temp control goes, I found this little inline slide switch at home depot for $15 that you just cut the cord where you want your control, and stick both ends in it and snap the clips shut. It comes in a green package and is made by Lutron. It's called a LAMP cord style DIMMER. I've had mine in place for a few days and they seem to be working really well. Eliminates alot of cord mess too.
