In Reply to: Year of the Egg Bound Snakes... posted by Doug T on May 02, 2003 at 01:23:46:

:No one seems to be having a whole lot of good luck this year.
After not laying for EVER...my second female Texan (the one from Brad S) dropped a bunch of HUGE slugs(some bigger than any good Dry egg I've ever seen. She then ate, passed just fine... and...2 weeks later died.

Necropsy shows bacterial infections likely caused by her being backed up with eggs for so long...a lot like Carl's snake that died.

Now I have 2 gravid easterns that still have not laid...big and lumpy...they both look ready to drop any day...but they are FEEDING...which is very unusual. So...I'm a bit concerned as to what's going on with them. Anyone else ever have gravid eastern females that want to eat all the way up to laying time?

I think I may have missed altogether on my third female although she bred also...all 3 of these produced good eggs last year (and BIG clutches)

Cleo is in shed again...she's all huge and lumpy too but she BRED the same time that my other female yt did, and that female laid good eggs back in February!...I don't know what the hell is up.
