Time for me to get a Texas Indigo?

I have been in love with indigo snakes ever since i saw one in fourth grade. I live in Florida so Easterns are out, next on the list is a Texas. I plan to get one within a year or so( I want to make sure i am up to speed). I guess what i am asking is what are some tips you guys have picked up along the way, And when did you know you were ready to take care of these guys?
