Hmm...let me see. The main greens I have been told to feed my iguana: Collards, Dandelion greens, Green beans, Kale, and Turnip greens. Umm...they are all high in oxalate. CRAP!! WAIT they is always Mustard greens, but isn't mustard closely related to collards and kale? so it is probably high in oxalate too. Crappy CRAP!!! LOL. What am I supposed to do now?? I guess I just won't feed my iguanas anything at all just to be safe.
On a more serious note. My girlfriend has total renal failure and I thought her doctors might know something about oxalates since it affects the kidneys so I had her ask about oxalatic acid and he(her nurse) didn't know what she was talking about. But I just find out(like 10 minutes ago) that peritoneal dialysis (which my girlfriend is on) is not efficient in removing oxalate unlike Hemodialysis(blood dialysis). So I would think that her doctors and nurses would know about it. I'm not a rocket scientist but if she doesn't effectively remove oxalate and she eats foods high in oxalate that would cause an accumulation of oxalate which is also know as Oxalosis which can damage body tissues, including organs, such as the liver and kidney. Shouldn't her doctors & nurses know about it? I am going to clue her in and have her ask about oxalate instead of oxalate acid, and if they don't know what she is talking about again my furry will have to be unleashed. If I learn anything I will let you guys know.
