In Reply to: sick iggy in drug store, now in my house. Need advice. posted by sucker on June 04, 1999 at 21:26:46:
To those of you who have posted helping, I thought I'd first share an update I spied at Acme from sucker. The iggy is hanging in there and has eaten. I'll leave the rest of the update honors to Sucker. And, uhhh, Sucker, maybe you'd like to change your name? LOL
This is the info I wanted to share with you, Sucker. When I read your 2nd update at Acme where you said something to the effect that drugstores shouldn't be selling iguanas....well, duh, on me! Where's that 2x4 to hit me with??? Check with your local animal shelter or whatever...it is VERY POSSIBLE that the drugstore is in violation of State law by offering them for sale. Ha!! There are all kinds of laws that come to mind about this. There's not having animals where food is sold; there are laws and new laws on the books in States re having to have certain permits to sell reptiles; there are City regulations that might come in to play with this.
I know you're real concern right now is trying to help this sick fellow out. However, I think you really can make a difference for the others left behind by going after this guy using the law in your favor. If you can learn from your officials that the law is being violated, then it may be as simple as a phone call to the police.
Does anyone have suggestions where to begin to find out about the laws? His state's Parks and Wildlife division? Local animal shelter?
If you could give us your state, someone here may already know the answer.
Continued good luck on the baby! He has a lot of people pulling for his recovery.
