I too, recommend the tub. Both of ours go in it and they rarely go in their cages. I've noticed on Harry, who is fairly new to us, that he's holding his poop til I get home at night.
Another thing you can do if you want a free roamer, is set up some kind of ladder system for the tub so your iguana can climb in and out of the tub anytime he/she wants. I've heard people use bathroom mats (rugs) with rubber backing so it grips the tub and doesn't fall off the edge. I think if Lola was a free roamer, she'd use it. We find her once in awhile, (when she's out of her cage) heading to the bathroom...and she's got to be pooped. She definitely knows what the bathroom is for. And she likes poop as much as new changes.........if you know what I mean!! So she's NOT going in there to just check things out.
