: Don't cover hot rocks with washcloth! Although they don't have this warning on the packages hot rocks come in, this is a major fire hazard!
: Also, try getting it a bigger cage. I'd say the minimum size tank a baby iguana should be in is about a 30 gallon, and that's kind of pushing it. My iguana isn't even a year old and he's in a 60 gallon tank. Try treating that dark spot with some Neosporin if you think it's a burn, and get that guy into a vet sometime soon. Keep reading the material on Melissa Kaplan's site, and keep telling us about your iguana! We love sharing iguana stories.
: Good luck!

I must disagree about the washcloth removal-- well you could be right about the fire hazard, but that wouldn't cause one anymore than the newspapers/papertowels or other substrate found in an iguana cage, so if that is the case, why not cover the rock with something to prevent a burn (my last was severely burned this way from previous owner) I think we all agree that hot rocks suck anyway! If need be, I use heat pads under the tank or the ceramic bulbs.
