In Reply to: Iguana's and Bearded Dragons together??? Please Read! posted by Chris on May 03, 2001 at 18:40:52:
I've been told never to have two different species in the same enclosure living together, but even at the pet store I used to work at in Kansas City had a Salvador Water Monitor and a large adult iguana housed together...they were the same size and often "cuddled" (i.e., the iguana basked on top of the monitor). They were the same size and got along great, and had no competition for food..so I really don't see the problem w/a bearded dragon (except for considerable size difference in adults). I'm sure hanging out together is fine as long as they are carefully watched. Iggs are pretty agreeable with other species.
: I was talking to someone at work today and they mentioned that they have a pair of adult Bearded Dragon's and a young Iguana that they keep in the same enclosure. She said it was a large aquarium type enclosure that she guessed at 100 gal or so but wasn't sure. I didn't know you could keep Beardie's and Iguana's together. They put them together a week ago when the Iguana kept escaping from it's old temporary enclosure. She said they do okay together so far.
: What is your opinion on this?? I would appriciate any replies.
: I am asking because I have Bearded dragons as well as 2 Iguana's. I am going to build a large outdoor sunning cage and want to know if I can sun my young Iguana with the Beardies so I don't have to build a second cage as planned. I would only keep them together for a couple hours a day while they sun.
: I had never even thought of putting them together before.
