It is for outside. Iguanas will be in it a few hours (as much as my time allows to get UV, since they will only get UV from a bulb in winter) a day during the summer. So they won't be in it over night or when it is cool out. The closest thing to plastic mesh that I can think of is bird netting that keeps birds off of fruit trees. But it is a lot thicker and should hold the weight of an iguana. The squares are about 1"x1" so iguanas can climb it and it shouldn't filter out the UV. I wouldn't think it would be abrasive. Iz's Mom is right about animals like dogs could chew through it but that isn't really a concern with me because they will be under close visual monitering and in a fenced yard and only in it during the day. I don't like pvc for permanent cages but for a hang out basking cage I like the idea. Really easy to build only a drill needed and a saw is optional. Low cost, 8'x4'x5' for about $35. Light, could move that size cage by myself without breaking a sweat. Anything else we need to consider? I just hate to go buy coated wire for $35 when I could make the cage for that much without it. If I cab get by without wire I would like to.
