Here in FL there was a case of some idiot leaving about 20 iguanas outside in a cage unfed & neglected for several weeks during a cold spell. Neighbors finally reported it when the guy wasn't home for so long. When animal control arrived, they were heaping the lizards into trash bags for burial when one moved. oops They found once warmed up, only a few had died, but the rest were not in prime condition of course. After an article in the paper, they were all adopted out in 1 day, hopefully to more caring homes, but I don't think some people knew what they were getting into (most seemed appealing because they were already getting bigger) Anyway, the guy was supposedly fined for each iguana left outside. I never heard whether he paid, but at least iguanas got some consideration. I went down to the pound but they were all adopted out. They said to check back if I was really interested because they got them in on a regular basis.
