If it wasn't for Dino, I wouldn't have Sneakers. Healthy, bright eyed, alert, & just an all around cute little stinker. hehehe I know that their are to many homeless igs out there and many more being sold in the pet stores that will eventually be added to that list. But I think good breeders are the ones we should support. Its not the animals, whether that is dogs, cats, or igs, its people in general. There are very few people, IMHO, that really have a love for animals. This includes breeders and owners a like. Except for our reptiles, most all our other animals have been rescued, including the birds. I believe as animal loving people we should promote those that do it right and steer people away from those that do it wrong. Education is the key. People will pay more if they know they are getting better quality.

A pet store recently opened up in this area. The prices of the animals are more than usual. Iguanas are $20, but the cages are more spacious, signs say captive bred (reptiles), hand fed (birds), etc... The igs are a little bit bigger than what I have seen in other pet stores and not as many in the cage. There is also a diet sheet (ig salad recipe) taped to the ig cage thats pretty good, collard greens listed first. They buy a lot of their animals from local breeders and guess what?... The store is always full of people. Most of the cages they carry, for all the different animals, are larger. They don't have many of the 10 gallon tanks and small tiny bird cages. They give the impression right off the bat that you are going to need big environments for any of their animals. Instead of 10 igs in a 20 gallon tank, there is 5 igs in a 80 gallon tank with a water fall, huge bowl of salad, silk plants, hiding spots and basking areas. People are still buying. At least people are getting the right impression of whats needed.

Im way to late to make a long story short, but the whole gist of this was...we are going to have dogs, cats, birds and igs out their for sale no matter what. Its a fact. But we can try and make it where the animals being supplied are from people like Dino. Good quality healthy animals.
