You see....I read your post last night. Thought to myself "hmmm, maybe she should have followed up on what he was telling her about Jason by alerting that kid's mom" and I thought "she really handled it well by having the boys handle letting it go properly." AND I thought smugly to myself "gosh, I'm SOOOO glad that we are past that stage with our kids."

Hubby Ben and youngest son David (9) left this a.m. at 8 to go fishing. David's twin, Sarah, and my eldest son (14) and I got ready to run errands for the day. Stepped outside around 11 a.m. and I immediately see an open coffee can with its lid nearby which has air holes all in it. I ask Sarah what she knows about it and she tells me "Oh, David was keeping a gecko in it." *sigh* Luckily, he had only had it overnight. I don't know how many times I've told them to leave the outside geckos alone!! There's a family of toads that live under an exposed section of our patio. When we get too dry he puts out a pan of water for them near their hiding place. I caught him twice last year with all the toads in the feeding tank eating my $1/dozen crickets!!! The only thing I can say is that at least he is being helpful LOL To them!

So, I'll no longer think that I have passed this point of boyhood. But I think you did a bang up job, Kayo, in explaining to the boys why you can't keep a lizard in a pocket!
