They see us do all the preparation of the food, they watch us clean out the enclosures, and they see us handle the igs. They also have the opportunity to handle the nicer igs, Darwin and Fondue walk across thier legs, and the igs let them pet them. We also took them to a local state park recently, and caught some garter snakes, and looked for frogs and polliwogs and such. But we made sure to make it clear that these were wild animals, and they need to be placed right back where we got them. Our 5 year old daughter was enthralled by the little garters. Since thier so little, (5, 4, and 2) obviously we don't give them much responsibility, but I think that as they grow up they'll have a very healthy respect for animals of all kinds.
