can't remember how long you've had your iglet??? it does take *alot* of time + patience ... and maybe cuz he is *so* little, it'll take him a bit longer to believe you're not going to eat him ... talking to him while he sits by you on the puter sounds great! he can get used to you just being around ... *grin* ...

try to not 'loom' over him when you go to get him ... don't suddenly appear above him ... it also helps if you can pick him up from *underneath* ... put your hand under him and support his legs and belly ... it'll feel less like being picked up by a predator ... always talk calmly to him and move slow so you don't startle him ...

some people suggest *not* trying to pick him up yet, but to let him adjust to just your hand being in his enclosure with him ... and day by day get a little closer ...

either way, bribing his friendship with food helps too! he'll associate nummies with you *grin*

igs tend to *not* like *any* change even when they're grown ... so moving into a new home is *very* stressful on an iglet ... do *not* take it personally!!! he just needs some more time ... iZ had been with me for a year when we moved into a house and it took him a good month to adjust and calm back down ... (actually, it wasn't that 'good') try to have a fairly set daily routine with your iglet, so he can learn what time to expect things to happen ... that will help him calm down too ...

iZ has certain times of the day when he is more open to receiving attention from humans ... later in the day is better for him ... especially if he's pigged out and has been out roaming around the house and is tired and chilly, he *really* appreciates a warm snuggle then! *grin* he is *not* a morning kind of guy ... he's too wound up ...

sounds like you are doing the 'right' things and that you 2 just haven't been together very long ...

(and hey! your hubby picked a female, why wouldn't your iglet???? heheheh) (your hormones won't be an influence on your iglet til it's grown and then prob'ly only if it's a male ... you don't have to worry about that *yet*)

best of luck!!!
iZ + mom
