It will take much longer than two weeks, as other people here said. It took me about two months to get my iguana to the point where he wouldn't decide to bite me or whip me with his tail!
I used to hand feed my iguana, but I had to stop it because he got dependant on it and would ONLY eat if I hand fed him. I don't have the time to sit there and hand feed my iguana, so I had to wean him off of it.
Also, one thing iguanas love is when you scratch them around their jaw, at the base of their necks and around the chest. Dexter practically melts in my hands when I do that.
Something else to keep in mind is that along your road of friendship with your iguana, he'll prolly bite you or lash his tail at you. As hard as it is, ignore him. Don't encourage this behaviour. When the iguana realises that being a meaniehead won't make you go away, they'll usually knock it off.
