WHAT name calling???? WHAT gossip??? i seem to be missing those posts on *my* screen ... we try very hard to play nice here + i think most of us are proud of that fact ...

as far as not coming here cuz we tell stories .... i think you're missing the point ... you see, what i think we've created here is an ig-family ... this is NOT *just* a place to come for advise or facts ... is *IS* a place to come with our stories about our "babies"!!!

when our co-workers are telling stories about their cute puppy, we don't usually get to share *our* pet stories ... *they* don't appreciate them ... the ig-people here *do*!!!! *this* is where we come to share our triumphs with potty-training, our pride in their growth, our worries + fears about injuries + illness, and our heartache when one of our 'babies' dies ...

i'm *very* guilty of story telling! if you want cold hard, concise facts, both Melissa Kaplin + Jen Swofford have excellent *just-the-facts* sites ... pretty much, their sites answer *any* *important* question that ever gets answered here ... (and James Hatfield has an excellent book in print ...) but, if you want weird little tips like how to get a 5 foot ig to stay in the tub long enough to soak his dry skin, i've got a story for you! maybe i could've just as easily said: "put a washcloth over him and hold the shower hose on him" but that doesn't *quite* get it as far as i'm concerned ...

and i s'pose i could also just have said "all 3 of my very different pets get along" ... but the sight of the bunny finishing off the dragon's salad while the dragon is on my lap begging for more, combined with the sight of the dragon using the puppy as a speed bump, says that just a bit more descriptively ...

and if it's our infamous poop-stories that get to you, well, i think there's actually alot to be learned from them too! we've learned thru trial and error what works for potty training igs *AND* we've discovered that igs *do* have a sense of humor and *will* make their ittle green opinions *known*!

i'm really sorry you don't like the format that this board has taken on ... i think it's an excellent way for others to realize that igs are *not* like owning a goldfish where you throw food in once a day and clean their tank once every week or so (apologies to any fish owners!)

iguanas are *inter-active* pets and i think that this board shows that ... what you're *not* getting from reading our stories, is the fact that we all care *very* *much* for our igs! (no ... let me change that to *love* our igs!) we go to some strange lengths at times to take care of them as best as we can figure out how ...

not a few of us have igs that shouldn't have lived long enough to even meet us, but they did and we have tried to reward them with good health and *alot* of *TLC* ... people have come and gone since i first starting coming here, but i am eternily grateful to each + everyone (still here or not) because they taught me how to "parent" and take care of iZ ... not just his physical needs, but his *whole self* ... i love him! and you know what? he loves me too ....

iZ the dreadful dragon's mom
