Food and stuff like proteins

I have heard from a number of iguana keepers that you should NOT feed an iguana animal proteins. Stuff like dog food or table scraps with red meat. They say that it makes them PSYCHO!! Oooh do I chance it? I don't mean to sound like it is bad, but once in a while I might feed my igs a peice of Kentucky Fries Chicken...they love it! But is it a bad thing if I do such a thing??? I don't want to jeopardize their health, but I also want to make them happy!
