Hi Lesha,
Lola was egg bound last fall. The Vet x-rayed her and we could see them forming. 6 weeks went by, nothing. She went back to eating good and her color changed back to green from brown. At first she didn't eat for over a week maybe even a week and a half. That's when we took her in. The eggs never did form all the way. But this is rare! Chances are this fall Lola will have her first clutch of eggs.
As far as telling male from female, the pores under their back legs should tell you after about a year or year and a half. Also males have a larger Subtympanic shield (plate) then females do. It's the large circle located by the lower jaw, right before the Dewlap. I don't know of a Vet around here that could tell for certain which sex a young iguana is. Herp Baby said something about the probe test, it's not that easy from my understanding talking with a Vet, to determine sex by it. It's still a roll of the dice.
