Lesha Im not sure if I can shed some light but here's what I know about it...
egg binding can be pre-ovalatory where the shells do not form but remain in the ovaries or postovalatory where the eggs (with or without shells) get trapped in the oviducts(dystocia like my Juana had). Egg laying & egg-laying age varies. Most seem to start around 3 y/o others before or later (depending on size) . Alot of different varients at play here . Successful egg-laying depends on mothers ability & health as well as good nesting set up & proper husbandry. Determining sex is hard until they're older..larger dewlap, spikes, bigger head (lol) femoral pores and that *unsightly* bulge below the cloaca..lol..then ya know ya got a boy! I describe Juana's femoral pores as "little florets" and Feo's well big ugly callouses!...lol but this distinction is most noticeable when they're grown. You can have yer vet "probe" them for sex determination next visit! May help prepare ya. It takes just a few minutes ( for snakes anyway) don't know anyone that has their iguanas probed so not sure about it.
