Hi
The first of this month my friend called me up and said that she had a female iguana that needed a home. Her friend found it on a road. Well two days later I brought her home ( after makeing her a cage and getting other supplies ) she is 13.5'' svl and 40'' stl. I put her in a outside cage with a hind box, a bowl of water, and a few branches for her to climb on. She has MBD in her front legs and the first week she would olny stay at the bottom of the cage after that she would climb up to get out of the sun. She has trouble walking and her left front leg faces the wrong way. From the first day she ate readly ( my friend had her for two weeks before I got her ) but not that much now she eats more and stays nice and fat. She defecates every other days if not every day and its sometimes loose. Two days after I got her I found out she has red mites ( at least I think she does she has red line arond her lips and bright red in other varies places ) by this time she has been in a wooded cage and all over my house. Since then I have soaked her three or four times for 10 to 30 minutes times and have seen no change. Today I soaked her for 30 minutes in Betadine diluted with water to a medium tea color and saw no change befor I put her in her cage I water it down for about ten minutes with the hose since it is to big to put it in the oven to kill the mite and eggs. I have heard that if all the mites are not kill they will never go away and I don't know what to do should I keep her out of the house so the mite inside ( if there are any ) have a chance to die and water down the cage every day and soak her daily. I am takeing her to a reptile vet. tomorrow and seeing if she has worms and if there is any mite killing medicine. Can some please help me out and tell me what I should do and also is there any mite killing and deworming medicine I should stay away from.
Thank in advance
Saci
